The next Circle to Search update could improve auto-translation: here’s what we know

Google is continuously enhancing its AI-driven tools, and the next update for Circle to Search could bring automatic translation capabilities. This feature aims to simplify and speed up the process of translating text on mobile devices, making it more intuitive and seamless.

A new way to translate with Circle to Search

Currently, users must manually activate the translation feature within Circle to Search. They need to open the tool, select the Translate option, and then circle the text they want to convert. However, the upcoming update could eliminate these extra steps by enabling automatic translation once text is selected.

According to an APK analysis from Android Authority, the latest beta version of the Google app (16.9.39.sa.arm64) includes hints of this new functionality. The auto-translate feature would allow users to instantly translate text without manually selecting the Translate button, potentially saving time and improving accessibility for multilingual users.

For those who prefer manual control, the feature can reportedly be disabled via the settings menu. This flexibility ensures that users can still choose how they interact with translations within Circle to Search.

Availability and device compatibility

Circle to Search is not yet available on all Android devices, but it is supported on Pixel 6 and later, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy S21 series and newer models. Additionally, some flagship devices from OnePlus and Motorola, such as the OnePlus 12 and the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, are also compatible with the feature.

While this update is still in beta and might not reach all users immediately, its potential to streamline translation on mobile devices could be a game changer for those frequently engaging with multilingual content.
