The now great Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be released for Mac, will it work well?

Cyberpunk 2077 finally arrives on Mac computers, something we knew would happen, but we didn’t know when. The first-person open-world adventure was first released in 2020 and came out completely broken, surely the most disastrous launch of the decade so far.

This also means that Apple fans have been waiting almost half a decade for this release. The developer CD Projekt RED has not yet announced a release date, but says the game will be available “early next year,” meaning January or February 2025.

This is not the base game. Mac owners will receive Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, which includes all existing DLCs and patches. This includes the massive Phantom Liberty expansion featuring Idris Elba. The expansion was first released last year for consoles and PC.

It will come to Mac, but only to Macs with Apple Silicon

The developer says that this port takes “full advantage of the Apple Silicon chip and the advanced Metal technologies.” It will feature all kinds of modern functions, such as ray tracing, frame generation, and integrated spatial audio.

As indicated, this port is only for Apple Silicon Macs, but CD Projekt RED has not announced if there will be any barriers beyond that. However, the difference in power between the original M1 and the newly announced M4 is very large, so we don’t know how well the game will perform depending on the SoC that the Mac has.

There is also a good policy for existing players. If you have the game on your PC through Steam, the purchase will be transferred to your Mac without any issues.
