Today, Nicolas Cage is a meme that can play either a vampire or a crazy maniac with an expression that sticks in your mind forever. However, there was a day when the actor was much more: when he won an Oscar and became a benchmark in children’s cinema with National Treasure.

Released in 2004 and 2007, the two movies of National Treasure were big box office hits for Disney at the beginning of the millennium, and became a reference for several generations. That’s why the company decided to release a series for Disney Plus based on the saga… although it hasn’t turned out as well as it should have.

Goodbye to the new search

Disney Plus has just confirmed that there will be no season 2 of National Treasure: Edge of History, the spin-off of the Nicolas Cage saga in which Jess, a young explorer played by Lisette Olivera, embarked on a dangerous expedition to uncover the truth about her family’s past and save a Pan-American treasure before it was stolen.

The fiction has a cast made up of actors such as Zuri Reed, Jake Austin Walker, Antonio Cipriano, Lyndon Smith or Jordan Rodrigues. However, there was no trace of Nicolas Cage, which has caused, among other reasons, the public to overlook this series.

The first season premiered last February with 10 episodes, and joins the trend of recovering old IPs such as Journey to the Center of the Earth. However, its cancellation joins others such as Willow or The Mister, making it clear that not all that glitters in Disney+ is gold.
