Fortnite has never had a competitive mode like other battle royale games. Until now. Because while it’s true that Fortnite has always had the Arena mode, a game mode where you earn points to level up based on eliminations and final placement, Fortnite had never had a Ranked mode. This mode has arrived with the 24.40 patch.

Fortnite will follow a classic ranked division, where players will be ranked from bronze, the lowest level, to unreal, the highest. Matches can be played in Battle Royale mode, both solo and in duos or teams, and in Zero Build, only in duos. If we play solo, we will be matched with people of similar skill level, and if we play with others, we will be matched based on the highest skill level among our teammates. Points to rank up are earned based on placement and eliminated players. But here’s the twist: as the match progresses, eliminations become more valuable, and when awarding points, both the rank of the eliminated players and their team are taken into account. So, there is also an advantage to playing with friends who have a higher skill level than us, if we can keep up with the pace.

As is common in ranked systems, our rank will be reset at the end of each season, with Battle Royale and Zero Build modes having separate ranks. The rank division is as follows:

  • Bronze (1, 2, 3)
  • Silver (1, 2, 3)
  • Gold (1, 2, 3)
  • Platinum (1, 2, 3)
  • Diamond (1, 2, 3)
  • Elite
  • Ace
  • Unreal

Additionally, upon reaching the Unreal rank, players will have a number indicating their position in the ranking among all players. This provides an incentive to become the number one player in Fortnite in two different game modes and show off their competitive skills. This opportunity is available to those interested in showcasing their abilities starting today.
