Tempers are flaring because Nintendo has yet to announce the long-awaited Direct where, finally, they will present the Switch 2 and reveal which rumors were accurate and which were made up on the fly. For now, the only thing that is clear is that there is deep nervousness among the company’s followers, who fear another failure like the Wii U, but the Big N is not giving in, continuing to invite developers and journalists behind closed doors… and meanwhile, on Twitter, they believe they have found the holy grail.

And it is that yesterday, social networks were filled with photos of the supposed Switch 2, which was accompanied by its specifications. There was only one problem: it looked aesthetically identical to the Switch, with nothing to justify, at first glance, the generational change. Neither the dual screen that some rumored, nor the groundbreaking design that others assured. Thus, at first glance, it was easy to confuse it with the console we already have at home. If it weren’t for one detail.
Although VGC has corroborated with a source that it looks quite similar to what Nintendo is cooking up, these images of the supposed Switch 2 are either 3D impressions or an old prototype that may have changed over time. Yes, it may be close to what we will get, but it could also be a catastrophic error. Some vehemently assure the former and others the latter, as is often the case on social media, but I, personally, would say the chances are 50-50.
Nintendo knows that we are in their hands and that the moment they announce the Direct, the Internet will stop for a few minutes before discussing every detail for weeks. That’s why they are saving it for a moment when, definitively, there is nothing left to release on Switch. Whether it seems like it or not, it’s time to wait patiently and not believe all the rumors—no matter how difficult it may be.
