It is clear that horror is one of the genres that Spanish directors excel at, and to realize this you just have to review filmographies like those of J.A. Bayona, Paco Plaza or Jaume Balagueró. However, very few times psychological horror is played, opting more for a classic fear, of zombies or ghosts.

Now, a trailer has just arrived that wants to change the rules of the game. The movie Faro, directed by Ángeles Hernández, will be released on January 26th, and the film’s trailer already makes it clear that it is a movie that can generate a lot of buzz. Starring Hugo Silva, it promises to be a complete hit.

Hugo Silva in a unique role in his career

Faro tells the story of how, after witnessing the accidental death of her mother, young Lidia and her father take refuge in a lighthouse to deal with the pain. But, since they arrive, nightmares take hold of Lidia, further damaging their relationship. Both will have to learn to trust each other before the nightmares become real… but what seemed like a good idea soon turns into a prison for both of them.

Starring Hugo Silva, well-known for series like Paco’s Men and The Ministry of Time, the film aims to be revealing in many ways, with a very interesting reflection on grief. Alongside him is the young Zoe Arnao, who is categorized as a promising young talent who can become very big in the industry.

In addition, Faro is produced by the creators of The Platform, so it adds a layer of quality that seeks to highlight Spanish cinema once again. We will see if it does as well as The Platform, although it is clear that it looks spectacular.
