This 2023 will go down in memory as a tremendous year for video games in terms of releases. We’ve seen huge titles of all kinds, including some remakes like Resident Evil 4. We already knew that there would be a VR mode for Capcom’s game, but what we didn’t expect was for it to arrive so soon: this upcoming December 8th!
There are only 7 days left to get this downloadable content available for PlayStation VR2. To access it, you’ll need, of course, the mentioned Sony goggles, as well as the game on PlayStation 5. Luckily for everyone, there will also be a demonstration available that will showcase the benefits of virtual reality.
To be precise, this special demo will allow us to access a shooting range and play through the beginning of the game. This way, we can explore two key situations in Resident Evil 4: its characteristic opening and experience gameplay while taking some shots.
Capcom highlighted in the announcement that this VR version has received special attention and care. As usual, virtual reality introduces certain peculiarities that need to be considered. For instance, the knife has been improved to be more seamlessly integrated into the gameplay, allowing it to move alongside other weapons (with corresponding animations, including some impressively recreated ones such as weapon reloads or character movements).
For now, this version remains exclusive to PlayStation 5. Most likely, it will eventually arrive on other VR systems, but not in the immediate future. In the meantime, players will have to settle for the regular version of Resident Evil 4 that came out a couple of years ago for Meta Quest. Hopefully, the remake version will make its way there before long.
