After the resounding success of Palworld since its early access release, Pocketpair, developer of Palworld, has shared a roadmap detailing where they plan to take the game in the coming months.

For those who have been keeping up with what Palworld currently offers, the roadmap shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, with features like PvP and crossplay between Xbox and Steam included in the to-do lists, but the roadmap also hints that Pocketpair will add new Pals and islands for players to explore.

These updates won’t be available until later, however, if the order in which things are listed on the roadmap is indicative of how Pocketpair plans to add things.

Palworld’s first roadmap for 2024

As expected, the first priority regarding the new Palworld content will be to fix the errors and other issues that players have been encountering, such as endless loading screens on startup or black screens that lead to nothing. Once these problems are solved, we will move on to the content that players have been asking for.

The creators of Palworld shared the game’s roadmap on social media and on the official Discord server early Wednesday morning. The graphic can be seen below along with a text version of what’s to come if you prefer the quick summary instead:

Bug fixing

  • Currently, numerous errors have been identified, and we are prioritizing their resolution.
  • Sometimes, the world’s date can experience setbacks.
  • The loading screen may persist when trying to load into worlds.
  • Improvements to be implemented.

Key improvements in configuration

  • Improvements in the AI of the Pal base and in the routes.
  • Future planned updates

PvP

  • Raid bosses (endgame content)
  • Arena Palace (PvP for Pals)
  • Steam-Xbox Crossplay
  • Various Xbox feature improvements
  • Server transfers and migrations
  • Building system improvements
  • New islands, Pals, Bosses, and Technologies

The roadmap graphics do not mention any new Pals that we can see in the future, but it is expected, given how far away the launch of this type of content is.

If we base ourselves on what Pocketpair has said about the game’s plans, it makes sense that PvP takes such a prominent place on the to-do list, as it is something that has been talked about on numerous occasions in FAQs and interviews about what is to come.

The CEO of Pocketpair previously stated that developers were exploring different options for PvP, and it seems that two of the ones that will be implemented include some kind of general PvP mode between players, as well as one where Pals fight on their own.

For those who play with friends on different platforms, cross-play between Xbox and Steam will be another great addition. The fact that Palworld is available on Xbox Game Pass has opened the game to many more players, and millions of them are looking forward to being able to play across platforms. By the way, Nintendo is considering suing them.
