Valve unveils one of its biggest mysteries, but it took 17 years to do so
There are no longer any spies worth anything in Team Fortress 2

It cannot be said that Valve does not respond to fans. But if you expect them to do it overnight, or at full speed, you’re mistaken. Give them time, calmly, they are working on it, little by little. Portal 3? Half Life 3? Well, but without shouting, calm down, man, no stress. And now, after 17 years, they have finally shown the face of the Spy in Team Fortress 2, but they have done it in the most unusual way possible and taking their time. In their own style, you know.
In the end, he was handsome
Little by little, over the years, Valve has been providing information about the background of Team Fortress 2 that perhaps not everyone knows… because they have done it through free comics, which have been appearing irregularly since 2009. There we learned that the Heavy has a sister and ends up falling in love with Soldier, in addition to other small stories focused on the Red team players.
And what is all this about? Well, it’s because seven years after publishing number 6, Valve has released the seventh, a number in which, finally, Spy’s face is revealed. And after giving the eternal mask to his little daughter (because yes, he has a daughter, things that happen in Expanded Universes) we can finally see that he is… a pretty normal person, actually. For years there have been hundreds of theories about the face behind it, and it turns out the answer was “nothing special”.
This seems to be the last issue of the Team Fortress 2 comic (or at least it feels like it), and it is probably also Valve’s farewell to the game itself after finishing the story. Who knows, now that they have turned the page, like someone finally saying goodbye to an ex they always had hopes for, maybe it’s time for the promised third parts of Half-Life or Portal. For now, you can read all the comics we’ve been talking about completely free. And hey, having someone offer you nice things without paying in these days of crazy capitalism is, nowadays, an event in itself.
