Once again, dataminers have struck gold. Just a few days ago, Blizzard uploaded an alpha version 2.0 of Diablo IV for private testing, as pointed out by Wccftech. So far, everything is normal, as these versions are usually uploaded for a select few users to test how everything works. However, dataminers who have gained access to this build have uncovered what could be the name of the game’s first expansion.
According to this information, the first expansion would be called Lord of Hatred and would have a story based on the demon Mephisto, who is the elder brother of Diablo and Bhaal. Additionally, this expansion will be set in the Kurast region, which we already saw in Diablo 2, and will introduce the new class, Spiritborn, with a strong magical component set against a natural backdrop.
Continuing with this information extracted from the build, the expansion would also add a “mercenary system” with its own skill tree. The idea is to be able to hire NPCs and equip them as we wish, which in turn opens up a wide range of options for different approaches, such as the introduction of raids.
As a curiosity, it seems that dataminers have also extracted information about new gameplay mechanics. Among them would be the ability to create corrupt runestones that we would use in combat.
