There’s just one month left until the results for the 2023 Video Games of the Year are revealed. To be precise, it will be on December 7th when The Game Awards ceremony takes place (starting at 1:30 AM Peninsular time on Friday, December 8th, for our country). There’s an eagerness to find out who will take the crown in what is already being considered as the best year in the history of gaming. However, there’s still something very challenging to determine: the nominees.
The organization led by Geoff Keighley has specified that this coming Monday, November 13th, starting from 18:00 Spain time, we will know the list of nominees. These will be available through The Game Awards website, all organized into the more than 30 available categories.
Still waiting to find out who the six chosen ones will be, everything points to 2023 being very challenging to predict the nominees. In other years, it might have been easier to select the top six, but this year forces you to leave some out of the equation. Despite how tight the competition is, everything indicates that the top prize will be shared between The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur’s Gate 3, the two most talked-about works of this year.
Are there chances for other contenders to aspire to the throne? Yes, of course. Alan Wake 2 has been an incredible move by Remedy Entertainment, just like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the part of Insomniac Games. We should also add the always strong From Software with Armored Core 6, Square Enix and their Final Fantasy XVI, Blizzard with Diablo IV… and many more.
This Monday, we will know the first resolution of it all. The definitive one will come on December 7th.
