New day and, as usual, new controversy on TikTok. On March 10, we told you about a very popular video on the social network starring an American woman with a speech marked by hate and racism. In it, Rita Bellew addressed the employees of a U.S. pizza restaurant in a derogatory manner for having a Spanish-language program on TV, an aspect that led her to ask them to leave the country. And, this time, the controversy involves Melissa Ray, a tiktoker who shared a vacation day in Mexico and, unfortunately, praised the impact of Spanish colonization in Oaxaca.

As can be seen in the tweet below, since the original video disappeared from the video platform, Ray shared a post that reviewed a day in his life in Mexico City. However, in it he made a series of unfortunate comments in which, for example, he pointed out that Oaxaca “looks like Spain”, a statement to which he added a thank you to the Spanish colonization for “not having to fly so far away” to admire this beauty. Thus, this comment offended citizens from all over the world, which is why the original publication was filled with derogatory comments, insults and various hate speeches.

As a result, Ray shared with her followers that she received hate messages through Tiktok, other social networks and even her personal email. To this, she added that she was judged inordinately for “a 4-second opinion” that, according to her, she misarticulated. However, most of the comments agreed on how unfortunate it was and, among the most voted ones, one could read one that emphasized that the Mexican people seem to have “suffered in vain” since these content creators got what they were looking for.

After the controversy, Ray removed the video from her social networks and apologized again after uploading a second publication with a song from Pocahontas, the Disney movie about the romance between Pocahontas and the conqueror John Smith. After this, the creator again acknowledged her mistake and once again deleted her creation from all her social networks.
