Rockstar Games has made it clear that it is not willing to take its iconic franchises to the big screen, despite the palpable interest from fans for a possible film adaptation of Grand Theft Auto (GTA). And as fans love to imagine, this uncertainty has been accompanied by a recent montage created by KH Studio that has gained popularity on YouTube, already accumulating over a million views. This imaginary trailer proposes Will Smith in the role of CJ, the protagonist of GTA: San Andreas, which has sparked debates in the community about the viability of such a choice.
GTA 6 is indeed real, we’ll have to settle for that
Although fans of the game believe that a GTA movie could be a huge success online, they have also expressed doubts about whether Will Smith is the right actor for the lead role. Opinions vary, but many agree that a movie of this kind would undoubtedly capture the audience’s attention. Despite how appealing the project might seem, Rockstar appears to want to be cautious after the failure of the Borderlands film adaptation, which has led them to avoid making hasty decisions.
In this context, the question of creating a movie based on GTA remains up in the air. It may be that something worthy is made in Hollywood, says one of the fans, although others like an analyst have pointed out that any new title in the saga should not exceed 100 euros, as it would be a serious mistake on the part of Rockstar. Meanwhile, the attention of players is focused on the upcoming release of a second trailer for GTA 6, which is expected this year and could provide more information about the highly anticipated video game.
