New Volkswagen ID.UNYX 06 Features Enhanced Tech and Impressive Range

Volkswagen has launched an updated version of its ID.UNYX 06 electric crossover in China, featuring a refreshed interior, upgraded software, and an aggressive starting price of $20,560.

This new model aims to bolster Volkswagen’s position in the increasingly competitive EV market, particularly against Tesla’s Model Y, which has struggled with slow sales in the region.

The ID.UNYX 06, built by Volkswagen (Anhui) Automotive Company Limited, introduces the entry-level model ID.UNYX 06 Pure.

This variant is equipped with a 53.6 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery that offers a range of up to 426 km (264 miles), powered by a rear axle motor producing 210 kW (281 hp). An all-wheel-drive version boasts two electric motors with a combined output of 250 kW (335 hp), enhancing its performance appeal.

Positioned as a significant refresh from the original ID.UNYX, which debuted in 2024, the latest model brings a host of improvements that emphasize intelligence, entertainment, and personalization. The new ID.S 5.4 infotainment system showcases a dramatically updated user interface, incorporates in-car gaming, and allegedly includes features for a Metaverse social media experience, signifying Volkswagen’s commitment to technology integration within its vehicles.

Prices for the ID.UNYX 06 range from 149,900 yuan ($20,560) for the base model to 209,900 yuan ($28,970) for the premium Max model, with financing options available at 0% interest over 60 months. Customers will also benefit from a “Brand Light Enjoyment Package” and five years of complimentary connected vehicle services.
