Longbow has emerged as the first British manufacturer of electric sports cars, officially founded in 2023 by industry veterans Daniel Davey, Jenny Keisu, and Mark Tapscott.

This new niche brand unveiled its debut models—the Speedster and Roadster—promising an exhilarating driving experience inspired by British automotive icons.

Both models, which will weigh less than 995 kg (2,193 lbs), are designed around the philosophy of “Celeritas Levitas,” translating to “the speed of lightness”.

Pricing starts at $70,850 for the Roadster and $92,600 for the Speedster

The Speedster, an open-top convertible, tips the scales at just 895 kg (1,973 lbs) and boasts a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 3.6 seconds, while the Roadster, with its closed cockpit, weighs in at 995 kg and matches the Speedster’s acceleration time. Both vehicles are built on a lightweight aluminum chassis, engineered for maximum stiffness and minimum weight.

Initial production of these featherweight electric vehicles (FEVs) is set to commence soon, with availability projected for 2026. Pricing starts at £64,995 ($70,850) for the Roadster and £84,995 ($92,600) for the Speedster, both including VAT.

The launch will see limited editions produced, with only 150 units of the Speedster and various special editions of the Roadster planned.

With a focus on reducing weight through the integration of lightweight motors and batteries, Longbow claims its models will redefine electric sports cars. The team, which includes professionals with experience from brands like Tesla, Aston Martin, and Lotus, aims to deliver vehicles that are not only striking but also engage the driver in an unparalleled manner.

As reservations for both models open, the question remains whether this ambitious startup can fulfill its promises and deliver these innovative vehicles to market. While the designs are captivating, industry observers are left to ponder: will Longbow successfully navigate the challenges of production, or is it another startup facing a financial cliff?
