Windows 12 could be very close. We have already talked in previous occasions in Softonic that everything points to this new Operating System arriving in 2024, but, although it is still not official, there are many details that will shape the script of novelties compared to what currently exists in Windows 11.
It has also become evident that Windows 11 has failed to attract the majority of Windows 10 users, either due to reluctance or system incompatibility. Therefore, Windows 12 also aims to encourage users to update their software or upgrade their hardware to receive the new features it will offer.
What would Windows 12 be like
According to WindowsCentral, the arrival of Windows 12 would take place sometime in the fall of 2024, although it is possible that Microsoft chooses not to make the numerical leap and keeps the system as Windows 11 version 24H2. It will depend on the branding they want to carry out when the time comes, because there is more certainty about its content: adaptation to Artificial Intelligence.
It was already known from the beginning that Windows 12 would have part of its progress in Artificial Intelligence, although WindowsCentral highlights that there will be changes in details such as the following:
- Greater integration for Copilot.
- Improved layouts with AI and machine learning.
- Possibility to compress files natively, as well as decompress them.
- Editing metadata for PNG files.
- New quick settings panel.
- More improvements for linking with smartphones and tablets.
- Redesign of the energy-saving software.
AI gaining prominence
Just like in other digital devices or ecosystems, Artificial Intelligence is here to stay. That’s why Windows 12 would have a crucial role in increasing the possibilities of a system that, unlike Windows 11, would have been built to have all kinds of AI-based synergies.
In fact, currently you can appreciate the aggressive strategy that Microsoft has by placing Copilot at the center of most of its innovations. And it is that, this Artificial Intelligence has been developed to be part of the ecosystem of the company’s main services, such as Outlook, Teams, Edge and many others.
