WhatsApp users on iOS will be getting a couple of cool new features today. Version 2.10.1 will bring chat history backup and multiple photo support.
The most interesting new feature in this update is the chat log backup, which works with Apple’s iCloud. In the settings, you can now tell iCloud to backup your WhatsApp chat histories so you’ll never lose them. This is great as you can pick up where you left off if you get a new iOS device. To get to this new feature, tap on the settings icon in the WhatsApp app, tap “Chat Settings,” and “Chat Backup.”
Users will also be able to send photos in bulk now. It’ll be interesting to see if photos are saved to iCloud as well since that could eat up a lot of space.
Last but not least, the latest WhatsApp update includes new URL handlers for third-party app support. This means other apps can launch WhatsApp for messaging and sharing.
