It has been almost two years since one of the longest soap operas we have ever had in videogames started: the purchase of Activision Blizzard King by Microsoft. There have been many rivers of ink (both virtual and physical) talking about the transaction, leaked documents and much more. However, it looks like the soap opera with Xbox is about to end.

Thanks to The Verge we have learned that the scheduled day for everything to be finalized will be this coming Friday, October 13. According to the published information, which in turn is provided by Microsoft, the deadline to give the verdict is October 18, so it would be advanced a few days to avoid arriving until the last moment.

The green light to this agreement comes with an obligation. Microsoft has committed to sell all rights to stream Activision Blizzard video games to Ubisoft. In this way, the French company would have the rights to the brand’s IPs; however, we repeat, only to play in the cloud.

The CMA (Competition and Markets Authority) is the UK regulatory body that had yet to rule among the big players. After the United States and Europe were settled in favor of Microsoft, the only thing left was the United Kingdom to put an end to this soap opera. Thanks to the sale of the streaming game rights, this problem can be solved and the operation, valued at 68.7 billion dollars, can be closed.

It has cost Microsoft a lot – in fact, the US FTC wants to extend the trial even if it has lost it, since it “violates the rights of consumers” -, but everything points to the fact that we are in the last throes of this purchase.
