The iPhone 17 series is taking shape, and new images of dummy units for all four expected models have surfaced online. These prototypes, based on supply chain schematics, give a detailed preview of Apple’s next-generation designs. While the standard iPhone 17 will closely resemble its predecessor, major changes seem to be coming to the higher-end models.
A redesigned Pro lineup and the arrival of iPhone 17 Air
Leaked images show that the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max (or Ultra) will have a new raised camera bump, suggesting significant hardware upgrades. The camera module appears larger, reinforcing speculation that Apple will introduce improved sensors or additional lenses. These changes indicate that Apple is focusing on further enhancing its professional-grade photography experience.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace the iPhone 16 Plus. Leaks suggest this model will be the thinnest in the lineup, with some reports claiming a thickness of just 5.5 mm. If true, this would make the Air one of the slimmest smartphones on the market, following Apple’s recent trend of emphasizing lightweight and ultra-thin designs.
What these leaks mean for Apple’s 2025 launch
While dummy units don’t reveal internal hardware, they confirm Apple’s evolving design language. The Pro models will continue their premium evolution, the base iPhone 17 will remain largely unchanged, and the introduction of the Air could signal a shift in Apple’s approach to its larger-screen devices. With six months until the expected launch, more leaks will likely refine our understanding of Apple’s strategy for the iPhone 17 series.
