Xiaomi Aims for 350,000 Electric Vehicle Sales in 2025

The Xiaomi SU7 has made waves in the electric vehicle market, having sold 200,000 units in less than a year since its launch.

The vehicle is not only impressing buyers but also outpacing competitors, notably the Tesla Model 3, with over 22,000 units delivered in January 2025 alone, compared to Tesla’s 8,000 for the same month.

Xiaomi aims to sell a staggering 350,000 electric vehicles this year—a figure that would surpass the combined sales of major German automakers such as Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche, according to reports.

The Xiaomi high-performance Ultra trim boasts 1,526 horsepower

The SU7 is packed with impressive technology, featuring an 800V fast charging capability and a robust 101 kWh battery that offers a remarkable range of 810 kilometers (approximately 503 miles).

The high-performance Ultra trim boasts 1,526 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 1.98 seconds, making it a formidable contender in the electric sedan market.

Amidst this electric revolution, Hyundai is not standing idly by. In less than two weeks, the South Korean automaker will launch its new Pleos brand, anticipated to introduce cutting-edge technologies and software across its Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis lineups.

A recent sighting of a Xiaomi SU7 equipped with testing plates near Hyundai’s Namyang R&D Center raises speculation about Hyundai potentially integrating insights from Chinese technological advancements into its forthcoming electric vehicles.

As both Xiaomi and Hyundai continue to innovate in the EV space, the competition is heating up, promising consumers a wider array of advanced electric vehicle options. Could we see more of these Chinese innovations influencing global markets? Only time will tell.
