YouTube Music has added one of the most awaited features

YouTube Music has finally implemented a long-requested improvement that users have been asking for over years. While Google Play Music was discontinued in 2020, many have continued to miss its stability and features. YouTube Music, its intended replacement, has been slow to meet expectations—until now.

The long-standing volume issue is finally fixed

The platform has introduced a new “volume leveling” option to normalize sound across songs, solving one of the most annoying problems for users. Previously, switching between tracks often resulted in sharp and uncomfortable shifts in volume—especially common when jumping across genres or listening to playlists.

Google had already included a similar feature in the standard YouTube app in 2023, but its absence in YouTube Music remained frustrating. With this update, Android and iOS users can now enable the feature from the Playback section in Settings. Although in many devices the option is enabled by default, it’s recommended to check manually.

What users need to know about the rollout

The feature is called “volume normalization” or “consistent volume,” depending on your device. If it’s not yet visible in your app, don’t worry—it’s rolling out progressively. Google has confirmed that all users will receive the update in the coming days.

While this is a big win, many users still hope for more enhancements in the app to bring it up to the standard of Google Play Music. But this latest update is a clear sign that Google is listening and slowly addressing key concerns.
