Zero Motorcycles to Raise Prices Due to Tariff Policies

Zero Motorcycles has announced that it will increase prices on its electric motorcycles in the United States due to the tariff policies instituted by the Trump Administration.

The impending change will impact existing and new customers alike, with prices expected to rise significantly after May 18, 2025. However, the company is giving a lifeline to early adopters: customers who reserve their bikes within the next few weeks can lock in pre-tariff prices.

Last year, Zero launched its new X-line of electric motorcycles, targeting affordability and accessibility for new riders.

Early Adopters Can Lock In Pre-Tariff Prices for Zero Motorcycles

The smaller XB model is priced at just $4,195, while its larger counterpart, the XE, retails for $6,495. Both models are designed for off-road use in the U.S. as well as both on and off-road capabilities in Europe, directly competing with bikes in the Sur Ron-style segment.

Despite ambitious plans to manufacture six unique models priced under $10,000 within the next two years, Zero faces challenges due to the new tariffs that could stem its growth. The company relies on partnerships with Chinese electric motorcycle manufacturers, like Zongshen, known for their cost efficiency. However, these tariffs threaten to erode the competitive pricing that has made the X-line accessible to a younger demographic.

Sam Paschel, CEO of Zero Motorcycles, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintain high-quality electric motorcycles at affordable prices. “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do…we’re reinforcing our position as the leader in the electric space,” he stated. While Zero’s production has increasingly shifted overseas, it remains committed to providing accessible electric transportation solutions, albeit in a challenging economic landscape.

As the electric motorcycle industry adjusts to these tariff policies, the implications for U.S. consumers are significant. Those who have not reserved their bikes before the pricing changes take effect will likely face higher costs and fewer options in the future.
