Zorro is one of the most mythical heroes in Spain/Latin America that moves away from the usual superheroes to tell the story of a 19th century character who fights evil with his sword. Created by Johnston McCulley in 1919, he became one of the first pulp heroes in history, and gradually found his place in the audiovisual world with adaptations like the one starring Antonio Banderas.

Now, El Zorro is back with a new series produced by Secuoya Studios and it will go straight to the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video. Zorro, which is the name of this new adaptation, will premiere on January 19th in Latin America and the United States, and on January 25th in Spain, Andorra, and Portugal. Below you can watch its trailer:

A new Zorro has arrived

In Zorro, actor Miguel Bernadeu (Élite, 1899) takes on his first action role as the famous Zorro. Alongside him, familiar faces from Latin America appear such as Renata Notni (Mal Criados, ¿Qué culpa tiene el Karma?), Dalia Xiuhcoatl (Luna negra, La Venganza de las Juanas), Emiliano Zurita (La Cabeza de Joaquín Murrieta, El baile de los 41), Andrés Almeida (El sabor de la Navidad) or Cuauhtli Jiménez (Finlandia, S.O.Z: Soldados o Zombies). Also other well-known Spaniards such as Elia Galera (El Cid, La que se avecina), Paco Tous (La Casa de Papel, Con los años que nos quedan) or Rodolfo Sancho (Los herederos de la tierra, El Ministerio del Tiempo).

Undoubtedly, it is a top-level bet that links very well with the previous El Cid, the first proposal from Amazon Prime Video to bring a Spanish hero to its platform. Let’s hope that this time things go better for them, although it will be the audience who decides starting next January.
