    Did you know that there were over 1,300 years of home-based work before the Industrial Revolution? This dated back in the medieval times where the concept of the 'work-home' was popular. Working classes often set up craft and trade-focused shops in their homes. With this set-up, they were able to offer goods and services in living spaces that were designed to accommodate working from home. During this period, single-story, one-room houses were prevalent. Most were used as workshops, which also included bedrooms, kitchens and dining rooms. However, during the 20th century, work has been centered around offices and plants. Management practices were mostly made for office workers. Also, company cultures were developed on the idea that everyone worked from an office.

    In the year 2010, then-US President Barack Obama signed the Telework Enhancement Act. This required all federal executive agencies to establish policies for employees to work remotely. This saw a breakthrough in the concept of work globally. For fiscal years 2014-2015, the Office of Personnel Management said telework participation increased from 39% to 46% in the States. This reportedly led to better emergency preparedness (59%) and improved employee attitudes (58%). Today, there has been a renaissance of the work from home concept. As technology has developed, professionals are spending more time doing their jobs at home. The freelance workforce is also as active as ever. There has been an increase in work from home companies. Also, resources are growing on remote workforce management and creating company cultures remotely. People also seem to be actively looking for ways to earn at home with apps. It seems like the rising trend in online work at home jobs is inevitable. This is all thanks to technology and globalization which made it possible for people to earn money in the comfort of their homes.
