Many people know about SourceForge.net, the place to go to if you’re looking for open source applications and code, but what about MacForge.net? The site was created by MacVerse for MacTech only recently, in 2005, to bring together the Mac open source community and foster open source projects. It has quickly become popular and can now claim to have over 50,000 open source applications in all sorts of categories, from text editors to chat programs or even games. It’s worth to dig in as you can find good open source alternatives to common software. For developers and software programmers it’s also a great place to exchange ideas and get working on common projects.
