Apple TV Plus has decided to cancel the series Mythic Quest after four successful seasons. The series, which debuted in 2020, follows the life of a fictional video game development studio responsible for the world’s most popular MMORPG, also titled Mythic Quest. Throughout its run, the series managed to capture the attention of both critics and fans, achieving an average score of 97% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and 82% from fans, leaving a very good impression and great success among critics.
Farewell in style
Despite the cancellation, the executive producers, including Rob McElhenney, Megan Ganz, and David Hornsby, have announced that an updated finale for the fourth season will be released. Finales are hard. But after four amazing seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to an end, they said in a statement. They thanked the fans for their support and praised the Apple team for believing in their vision from the beginning.
The producers also highlighted the sense of achievement that the series gave them, expressing their pride in the world they built over the years. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing, we made a final update to our last episode, so we could say goodbye, instead of just saying game over.
In addition to the main series, Mythic Quest included two special episodes and an anthology spin-off, all available on Apple TV Plus. The successful series has not only made an impact in the realm of comedy but has also addressed cultural and workplace issues within the video game industry, attracting a loyal fan base throughout its run.
