Apple finally lets you disable iMessage to get your lost text messages

iPhone users switching to any phone other than another iPhone found that text messages would be lost in the ether. That’s because texts from your friends still default as iMessages, which only work with iPhones.
Previously, users were advised to disable iMessage before switching to another phone but now Apple has a tool for this. If you don’t have your iPhone with you any more to disable iMessage, you can go to Apple’s site to disable it by entering your phone number and keying in a confirmation sent to you via text. Completing these steps will ensure your text messages get sent to your new phone.
It’s so simple, I’m wondering why it took Apple so long to release this tool. Apparently some users are angry enough about it to sue Apple.
