At Square, they ask not to make inappropriate mods of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and PC players are already preparing to ignore them.

If someone tells you that a very well-known console video game is also coming to PC, what is the first thing you think of? Of course, mods. And more specifically, the first one that will come out with 99% certainty: the one that allows you to see the characters completely naked and that you will obviously try almost as a rule. However, at Square they believe they have worked very hard on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and are on their knees begging you to stop this madness.

The PC port of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is coming out next month and it’s going to be packed with new features: Remixed music, new costumes, more difficulty, and of course, mods. And what mod in particular? Well, the one that lets you run through the game as God (or, well, as Tetsuya Nomura) brought you into the world. After Final Fantasy XVI was received with all kinds of cheeky mods, Square is kindly asking you to tone it down a bit.

“The team has no plans for official mod support, but we respect the community’s creativity and celebrate their creations… although we ask modders not to create or install anything offensive or inappropriate,” said Naoki Hamaguchi, its director. The response is yet to be seen, but I think it won’t surprise you at all.

In Final Fantasy XVI, for example, we have even seen a mod that every three minutes makes Clive say “I love you” and, of course, one that makes the whole group have, er, let’s say, “no armor.” Since there are already adult mods for Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Rebirth includes Vincent and Yuffie, I wouldn’t count on anyone holding back. Of course, there will also be serious mods that increase the game’s possibilities and improve it to unimaginable limits, but in the end, the flesh pulls to the pixel.
