According to the information published by Mat Piscatella, Warner Bros’ title is just three weeks away from becoming the best-selling video game of 2023 in the United States. This would end a dominance that Call of Duty and Rockstar Games’ video games have had… for the past 15 years!
The number 1 of each year has always been for these two titans since 2008, a good proof of how they dominate the market with an iron fist. Now, what does Hogwarts Legacy need to stay on top? Well, the easiest and simplest thing is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 doesn’t surpass it.
Activision’s production came in strong during the past month, to the point that it has already become the second best-selling video game of 2023 in the United States. Therefore, Hogwarts Legacy depends on Modern Warfare 3 not selling more during this month of December. It has a card up its sleeve, which is none other than the Nintendo Switch version released a few weeks ago and which has served it, precisely, to be the third best-selling video game in November in the US (and in the UK, even the best-selling).
We must not forget that Hogwarts Legacy is currently the best-selling video game of 2023 not only in the United States, but also the best-selling game of this year overall. No other title has managed to sell more copies than this production based on the Harry Potter universe.
