Marvel Studios continues with its plans for phases 5 and 6 of its cinematic universe. After Secret Invasion, the Disney Plus series that just concluded, the studio has two ongoing storylines that will culminate in the next two Avengers films. On one hand, we have the multiverse storyline with Kang as the antagonist, which we’ll continue to see in Loki. On the other hand, there’s the Skrull invasion, which will carry on until Secret Wars.

However, there are still two major groups yet to be added to the MCU that fans eagerly await: the mutants led by the X-Men and the Fantastic 4. The latter group will be the first to arrive, as we already saw their existence teased in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, despite initial speculations of John Krasinski playing Reed Richards, it seems we will have another actor in the role.

The casting for Fantastic 4, scheduled for May 2, 2025, has just begun. Although actors are currently on strike, which could potentially delay production, rumors are already circulating about who could be chosen for each role, and an official announcement may come very soon. Below, we present the fan favorites for each character.

Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic – Matt Smith

“Mr. Fantastic” is the main character of the Fantastic 4, the leader of the group, and someone with a complex enough personality to even become a villain on occasion. After the surprising rejection from John Krasinski, there was a lot of buzz around Adam Driver, but it seems the actor turned down the role after reading the script and feeling it wasn’t sufficient.

Finally, rumors now suggest that the actor Marvel is eyeing for Reed Richards is Matt Smith. The actor from “House of the Dragon” has been steadily rising in Hollywood with incredible roles, and this could be his chance to take another step forward in his career.

Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman – Vanessa Kirby

If John Krasinski was perfect for Mr. Fantastic, his wife Emily Blunt was perfect for Sue Storm, his wife and one of the most powerful and famous heroines in all of Marvel. However, it seems that neither of them will end up in these roles.

On the other hand, there is an actress who is being heavily rumored for the role of The Invisible Woman: Vanessa Kirby. The actress from “Mission: Impossible” and “Fast and Furious” seems to be a perfect fit for the role, and it would be a definitive leap for her career.

Johnny Storm / The Human Torch – Joseph Quinn

The Human Torch is often the favorite character among fans of the Fantastic Four, and for good reason. He is one of the coolest heroes in all of Marvel, with the power to control fire and fly with propulsion, which makes him one of the most powerful.

For the role, it seems they are considering Joseph Quinn, whom we all love thanks to his role as Eddie Munson in the fourth season of Stranger Things. It’s clear that this would be a great opportunity for the actor, and he has already shown plenty of charisma to portray a character like this.

Ben Grimm / The Thing – Ebon Moss-Bachrach

It appears that the fourth character in the Fantastic Four would be played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach. This actor has gained popularity in the recent Disney Plus series The Bear, as well as his roles in The Punisher and No Hard Feelings.

He is a versatile actor and seems to have all the qualities to portray this character. While he may not be as famous as the others, there is no doubt that he could deliver a fantastic performance and become a prominent hero in the Marvel universe.
