The uncertainty surrounding artificial intelligence and its evolution continues to grow among the public.
Recently, a Reddit user shared a viral clip in which ChatGPT, while using the Advanced Voice Mode, adopts a demonic tone, generating laughter and, at the same time, a feeling of fear.
This curious incident occurred in version v1.2025.098 of the program, and so far it has not been possible to replicate the error in subsequent tests. The mix of humor and unease that this situation generates highlights the ambivalent relationship that many have with emerging technologies.
Is AI a threat? Users are scared due to a demonic reaction from ChatGPT
In the clip, the user @freddieghorton questions ChatGPT about download speed. As the conversation progresses, the AI’s voice transforms, shifting from a normal tone to an increasingly sinister one.
While the moment was comedic for many, it also underscores a broader trend of unease regarding interactions with AI. In a recent survey on politeness in interactions with ChatGPT, 12% of participants admitted to using expressions like ‘please’ and ‘thank you’, fearing a possible rebellion of the machines.
This type of reaction highlights a palpable reality: the population is both fascinated and frightened by the potential of artificial intelligence. Although it may seem absurd, the concern about the behavior of chatbots is starting to affect how users communicate with them. It is crucial that OpenAI acts quickly to fix this bug, as such an error could foster a genuine fear of using its assistant. In the end, technology should inspire trust, not fear.
