Cities: Skylines II, once a highly anticipated city builder, is still working on improving the poor state of the game upon its release. For this reason, the company has confirmed that the release of DLCs will be put on hold until the overall game performance has been completely fixed.
In this way, the studio will prioritize ensuring that the base game is in the most perfect state possible before downloadable content arrives for Cities: Skylines II. Faced with the community’s repeated complaints about serious performance issues, they have chosen the fairest and most practical option.
Priority in fixing the game
Colossal Order, the studio behind the Cities: Skylines series, has repeatedly apologized for releasing Cities: Skylines II in its current state. They have also discussed their post-launch goals, such as achieving the desired target of stable 30 fps within the game. In fact, the first patch addressing the most severe issues was also released in the past few days.
“As the small team that we are, we must prioritize this issue at hand before taking on more than we can handle,” explained Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of Colossal Order. In this way, the studio made it clear that no paid content will be released until they have resolved the game’s current state.

The controversial release of Cities: Skylines II
The release of Cities: Skylines II has sparked many criticisms from fans. Being a beloved niche game among followers, many were disappointed that the final release was given the green light when it was clear the game was not ready for sale.
In fact, this is one of the main reasons why the game’s DLCs have been put on hold, as the team’s current priority is to make Cities: Skylines II live up to the expectations of its fans. Subsequently, once the game is ready, they will resume the development of downloadable content that will be added to the title after it has been properly fixed.
