Could there be a new Unreal Tournament game?

Unreal Tournament, the popular arena shooter series, is making a comeback according to Epic Games’ Vice President Mark Rein. He tweeted “so excited for the comeback! More next week!” and later confirmed Unreal Tournament is indeed returning.
There are no details about what will be announced, but on Thursday May 8th at 2pm ET (eastern time) the ‘future of Unreal Tournament’ will be explained on Twitch TV.
This apparent announcement contradicts a statement made by Epic’s founder Tim Sweeney, who said in March that there were no Unreal games in development. However, the company recently released Unreal Engine 4, the latest iteration of its popular game engine that has powered games like the Batman Arkham series, Bioshock, Mass Effect and even Goat Simulator.
A new Unreal Tournament could work as a showcase for Unreal 4, although it will be gamers who will be more excited about the return of a genuine classic multiplayer first person shooter. There’s reason to believe a new game exists – there has been a new Unreal Tournament alongside every new version of the Unreal Engine.
It would also be a great time for Unreal Tournament to come back, as competitive online gaming is really booming. We’ll have to tune in to Twitch TV this Thursday to find out more.
