Recently, we talked to you here about The Maze Runner, a youth science fiction film released in 2014 that has just arrived on Netflix. In the article, we mentioned that, despite not being the most popular of this genre’s sagas, the film has aged quite well, as have its two sequels. However, it didn’t have much luck in theaters and not many people remember it.

But what if we told you that The Maze Runner is going to have another life? As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the franchise based on James Dashner’s books is going to have a cinematic reboot. Initially, everything points to new movies based on the same books, but everything is still to be seen, and perhaps we will find new stories based on the same universe.

A dystopia that many had forgotten returns

20th Century Studios, the production company owned by Disney that has the rights to the franchise, has commissioned Jack Paglen (Transcendence) to write the script, and from there they will see. Wes Ball, director of the previous installments, will be involved as a producer, so some continuity is expected from what we have already seen.
