Which Hogwarts house do you belong to? Surely you have been asked this question on more than one occasion when talking about Harry Potter and his magical universe. The question, a priori trivial, hides more than it may seem, since each of the houses of the British magical school has very specific values and usually prefers people who fit into them.
Since Hogwarts Legacy is just around the corner, and we know that choosing the house to which you will belong in the game may not be an easy decision, we bring you the characteristics that each one of them has, as well as other information of interest.
The house of the lion values bravery, courage, valor and chivalry, and its colors are scarlet red and gold. The ghost of the house is Sir Nicholas of Mimsy-Porpington, known to most as Nearly Headless Nick (the axe they executed him with was not sharpened properly, and what happened happened). Its common room is located in one of the highest towers of Hogwarts castle and is guarded by the portrait of the Fat Lady. Its founder is Godric Gryffindor.
Hufflepuff is the house of the loyal, the fair, the patient and those who value hard work. Its colors are yellow and black, and its mascot is the badger. The house ghost is the lovable Fat Friar, who happily wanders the corridors of the magical school. Access to the common room is hidden behind some large barrels that are located in the alcove of the corridor where the kitchen is. It was founded by Helga Hufflepuff.
It is the home of people who want to cultivate intelligence and wisdom, and who value ingenuity and learning. Its mascot is the eagle, and its colors are blue and bronze (though in the movies it is silver). Their ghost is the Grey Lady, whose real identity is (spoiler alert) Helena Ravenclaw, the daughter of the house’s founder, Rowena Ravenclaw. The common room is housed in a tower of its own, Ravenclaw Tower, located on the west side of Hogwarts.
The house of those who value cunning, leadership, ambition and… power. Its colors are green and silver, and its mascot is the snake. The ghost of the house is the fearsome Baron Sanguinario, who murdered Helena Ravenclaw and, shortly after, took his own life. Its common room is accessed through the dungeons of the castle, behind a hidden door. Its founder is Salazar Slytherin.
