Despite GTA Vice City being an old game from the early 20s, there are still plenty of gamers out there playing it daily. The problem is that the monitors from back then were narrow, which means that the resolution can’t stretch over today’s widescreens. Fortunately, there’s a quick fix to change how the title looks so that you don’t have to spend time with blank spaces on either side.
So without further ado, here’s how to install the Grand Theft Auto Vice City Widescreen Fix.
How to install the Grand Theft Auto Vice City Widescreen Fix
The Grand Theft Auto Vice City Widescreen Fix is a patch or mod you can install on your computer that automatically adjusts the game without losing resolution or the user interface vanishing off the screen. Here are three steps to correctly update GTA without breaking it.
Step 1: Extract the archive
You’ll need to find a reliable source for the Grand Theft Auto Vice City Widescreen Fix. Speak to the gaming community to find the best online location that’s safe.
Once you download the archive folder, you’ll need to extract the files to the game directory. Ensure you place it in the folder where the main .exe file is located.
Step 2: Download Widescreen Frontend Textures
This step is optional, but we do recommend downloading the Widescreen Frontend Textures. It improves the graphics and gameplay so that you don’t lose textures when playing on widescreen. Make sure you also extract these files to the game directory.
Step 3: Check files for features
There’s a .ini file among the archive that showcases new features. There’s also d3d8.dll that the game activated automatically for the d3d8to9 wrapper. Once you’re ready, you can start Grand Theft Auto Vice City on widescreen.
Hitting the wide streets
You don’t necessarily have to play Grand Theft Auto Vice City on widescreen, but it does help improve the gameplay. You can see items with better clarity, and there are no annoying blank spaces on the side. If you have any issues using this fix on your PC, kindly let us know.
