Internet Explorer for Mac was abandoned by Microsoft in 2003 which has caused many problems for both developers and those users locked into IE via banking websites and other IE only sites.
However, there is finally a solution to using Internet Explorer on Mac in the form of online application Sauce Scout.
Previously, the only effort to address the problem was a project called ie4Mac but the developer had to abandon it due to legal and technical problems and the developers now endorse Sauce Scout as the best solution for those that need to test or use Internet Explorer on Mac.
Sauce Scout is a cloud based tool which allows you to test any site in a range of browsers – including Internet Explorer for Mac – without having to install anything. It includes older versions of browsers too so you can make sure that your site renders correctly in any version of the browser you want to use.
In fact, Sauce Scout offers over 95 browser and OS combinations. So if you need to see how your site looks in in Internet Explorer 10 – no problem. Or if you want to see how your site performs in Safari on iPad, Sauce Scout covers that too.
At the moment, you can sign-up for a Demo account although it only entitles you to 45 minutes of free testing every month and the range of browsers and OS’s is limited. Registered users can use them all.
