The Marvel Studios universe is in serious trouble since Jonathan Majors, actor who plays Kang The Conqueror, was recently arrested for alleged assault and physical abuse. The actor was to be the backbone of Marvel’s recent future, but after what happened they are juggling at Marvel to fix the situation.
But how has this affected Loki’s second season? Considering that Kang was the main villain (in the shadows) of the first season, it was clear that it was going to affect in some way or another to these new episodes. However, Marvel has announced that this has not been the case, and that in fact they have not had to reshoot anything in the series.
Nothing new under the sun
Jonathan Majors’ arrest has had no impact on Loki season 2, executive producer Kevin R. Wright explains. And is that, despite the importance of his role in the current phase of series and Marvel movies, the production of the second season of Loki took place in 2022, months before the arrest of Majors and the revelation of the accusations against him.
Despite the situation, Wright assured that there were no changes to the series due to Majors’ arrest, nor were reshoots or additional filming considered. This is particularly notable, as Loki is the first Marvel series that has never required additional photography. The story presented on screen is the one they originally planned and filmed, with no major alterations.
In the second season of Loki, Jonathan Majors plays a third variant named Victor Timely, a 19th century inventor who encounters the series’ protagonists. Despite the controversy surrounding Majors, his role remains integral to the plot of the series, and the production decided to keep his involvement unchanged.
