Flash games, which dominated the digital landscape in the 2000s, have seen their relevance drastically decline following the discontinuation of Flash support in December 2020. One of the most iconic titles of this era was Age of War, developed by Louissi in 2007, which managed to capture the attention of numerous players due to its simplicity in the RTS genre. However, its accessibility became complicated with the removal of support, although it is still possible to find it in various corners of the Internet.

Will the flash game trend return?

Fortunately, the classic has resurfaced thanks to the initiative of Alex Piotrowski, who has recreated Age of War using the Godot engine and released it for free on Steam this past April 11. This version not only makes it accessible, but also offers the opportunity to once again experience guiding troops that evolve through different eras, from Prehistory to a future filled with advanced technology.

The game allows users to build defenses and unleash mass destruction events, in addition to featuring three difficulty levels and the iconic soundtrack Glorious Mornin by WaterFlame, which continues to captivate players. Despite being a remake, several users have noticed inconsistencies and errors that were not present in the original version, generating some criticism among more nostalgic players.

Despite these setbacks, the reception has been globally positive, suggesting that Piotrowski could implement improvements in future updates to optimize the player experience. The arrival of Age of War on Steam could signify a resurgence for flash games, which, although relegated to oblivion, still hold a special place in the hearts of many players.
