Capcom has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of a new original Resident Evil game, distinct from the remastering of the series in recent times. While titles like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil 8: Village have represented the path towards narrative innovation, the company seeks to create an entry that not only satisfies fans but also achieves the critical recognition that has eluded the more recent installments.
The decline of the saga since its fourth part
It has been confirmed that Resident Evil 9 is in development and, according to internal sources, the team behind the game is taking the necessary time to ensure its success. AestheticGamer, also known as DuskGolem, has pointed out on social media that the title is ambitious and that Capcom is aware that it has not released a non-remastered main entry that achieves a critical score of over 90 points since the iconic original Resident Evil 4. This factor has led the company to strive to deliver an exceptionally high-quality product.
Additionally, there is speculation about the possibility that Capcom will present a new remake of Resident Evil before the release of the ninth installment, with several options available to revitalize classic titles. Although many fans long for the return of Leon Kennedy in the upcoming main game, this is not considered an absolute requirement for public satisfaction, although the presence of this popular character could positively influence the reception of the title.
With the intention of exceeding the expectations of players and critics, the Resident Evil community is eagerly awaiting the upcoming announcements from Capcom. With the development of Resident Evil 9 underway, all eyes are on how the company will approach this new phase in the franchise’s legacy and, above all, whether they can live up to the challenge with a new installment as much as we are sure they will with the remake, of that we have no doubt.
