Guess who’s back, and it’s about to make a killing…literally. That’s right, Ghostface is making a return in Scream 6, but it’s in a new town. Also, it doesn’t seem like the stalking murdered is playing by the usual horror-trope rules, which means things are about to become more intense and gory. The release is slated for March 10, 2023.

Here’s a look at the trailer for Scream 6:

While the other Scream movies take place in Woodsboro, California, the scenery is now changing. Scream 5 saw a younger cast as Ghostface took on a batch of new teenagers to the series. Now, these teens are heading to New York to attend Blackmore University. I don’t think the killer is going to give them time to focus on their studies.

Scream 6: everything you need to know

Here’s a more adult-theme trailer for Scream 6, with more swearing and gore:

Those returning to the cast for Scream 6 are Courtney Cox, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Melissa Barrera, and Jenna Ortega. Please forgive me for saying that I’m eager to see Wednesday Adams face the new Ghostface in New York. Maybe Thing can lend a hand.

We will also see new actors in the movie, especially the NYPD trying to deal with this criminal they don’t yet understand. The newcomers are Samara Weaving (Ready or Not), Tony Revolori (Spider-Man: Homecoming), and Dermot Mulroney (TV’s The Purge). We’ll have to see if these are simply lambs for the slaughter or if they can survive the murders.

As a horror fan and author, you don’t know how excited I am about the release of Scream 6. In the game Dead by Daylight, I’ve unlocked Ghostface as one of the murderers, and he’s definitely one of the fastest. As much as I love playing Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill DLC, he’s just a tad slow and one of the most challenging characters to play.
