Do you want to make money with TikTok? Pay attention because the company makes it easy for you. TikTok announced this week the launch of “TikTok Creative Challenge,” a new monetization feature that allows content creators to upload videos in response to challenges created by brands and earn income based on their performance.
Those who want to participate in this new feature, which is still in the testing phase, must be at least 18 years old, have 50,000 followers on TikTok, and reside in the United States. Content creators who sign up will be able to see a list of challenges from a range of brands, their rewards, requirements, and more details.
“The videos should be high-quality, well-edited, and have original content,” TikTok explains in a blog post. “Once submitted and approved, creators can track the status of their videos, monitor their performance, and check their monthly earnings. The rewards are influenced by various factors such as qualified video views, clicks, and comments. Creators will receive notifications about their videos if they need to be reviewed, with the option to review or appeal them.”
The videos submitted by content creators to participate in TikTok Creative Challenge will not appear on their profiles as usual. After receiving approval from TikTok, the challenge videos will be displayed as ads in the “For You” feed of the app. It is currently unknown whether this feature will be exclusive to the United States or if it will eventually expand to more regions.
Brands are continuing to work on offering more monetization opportunities for creators. In addition to TikTok, this week saw the announcement of Hype Chat, a feature on Twitch that allows streamers to earn money through messages their followers want to pin in stream chats, and the launch of a Discord feature that will enable creators to sell their digital products on the platform.
