Yesterday was a rather strange Monday. To start, Rockstar Games had the highly anticipated trailer for GTA 6 leaked, leaving them no choice but to release it in the early hours without prior notice. Yes, it was scheduled for today, Tuesday at 3 PM, but the leak changed all plans. However, beyond GTA 6, something else very odd happened: quite a few users reported that their PlayStation accounts were being suspended.

The news came to light thanks to The Verge, a media outlet that has echoed all this information. According to their report, players received the message stating, “This account has been permanently suspended from the PlayStation Network due to a violation of the agreed terms of service” with the digital platform.

As seen in the mentioned tweet, this user received the message about the PlayStation Network ban. Moreover, they weren’t the only one, as in the replies, there are many complaints about the same event, meaning players lost access to their accounts last night.

The media outlet The Verge reached out to Sony for a response, but no reply has been provided. Similarly, the official PlayStation website doesn’t raise any alerts regarding any incidents.

As a noteworthy point, the users who reported these issues later mentioned that their accounts had been reinstated this morning. It happened abruptly and without prior information. To add to the confusion, Sony didn’t inform them of anything, leading to hundreds (if not thousands) of players being banned last night, then having their accounts restored… and no one really knows why all of this happened.
