The video game industry is not going through its best moment. Mass layoffs have also reached Eidos-Montreal, which has started the year with 97 fewer employees. This has also affected the Deus Ex saga, which has seen its future installment canceled.

Through Reddit, Toufeix posted a heartfelt message where he expressed his gratitude for the saga’s community: “I wanted to come here and thank you all […] for your wonderful messages throughout the years and for your continuous and strong support. […] As for Jensen, we say goodbye, but hopefully not forever. Maybe someone can buy the license. We might make an animated series or finish the game. Elon Musk is a big fan of the saga and I think he has some money. Someone should ask him!”.

In his message, Toufeix also talks about the end of Adam Jensen and lets out some complaints about the current situation of the industry: “Unfortunately, his story [Adam Jensen’s] seems to have ended. I’m almost certain that the game that was canceled was not an Adam Jensen story, so the cancellation makes me even more angry because they have fired my friends from Eidos. Video game companies are currently in a strange situation. I hope it gets fixed.”

The truth is that this beginning of 2024 has been very difficult for development studios. Not even big names like Microsoft or Riot have managed to avoid laying off part of their staff.
