As a certain Tiktoker would say, Vikings is “the best damn series”, and although that may be an exaggeration, at the time the History Channel fiction became one of the biggest productions in television history. Now, the universe created by Michael Hirst comes to an end, as Vikings: Valhalla, its sequel available on Netflix has just finished forever.
After its third season, Vikings: Valhalla has concluded the story of the most epic Vikings we have seen on screen. It leaves behind a large number of fans who have accompanied all these great historical characters for years. But why is it worth watching Vikings: Valhalla as soon as possible?
Vikings: Valhalla, a spectacular gem from Netflix
Set in the 11th century, the series takes place a century after the original fiction of Vikings. Although it fictionalizes many elements, it treats the warriors of this era with great historical accuracy, and focuses on telling the story of many of them. From the explorer Leif Erikson to the fierce Freydis Eriksdotter, we get a close look at how these historical characters lived and conquered.
The curious thing is that, despite being based on real events, the series is full of action, tension, and adventure. With a special emphasis on naval battles, expeditions to unknown lands, and confrontations with great enemies, everything in the series keeps viewers on the edge of their seats.
Although the Valhalla experience is quite different from that of the original Vikings, which focused on more specific characters and did not have as many time jumps, there is no doubt that the sequel lives up to its predecessor. In fact, it can be seen independently from the previous one, as it tells a completely different story.
