Season 2 of The Last of Us is now available for subscribers of Max Spain, marking the return of the acclaimed series two years after the shocking finale of the first season. This new installment continues the intense and intriguing story of Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Joel (Pedro Pascal) in a world devastated by the cordyceps fungus, which has transformed humanity into terrifying infected creatures.
Lurking in the Shadows
The first episode, titled The Days to Come, introduces viewers to new types of infected, highlighting the appearance of the Stalkers. This new phase of the virus, which sits between the Runners and the Clickers, offers greater difficulty and a considerably higher level of cunning. The Stalkers are described as more intelligent and terrifying, capable of hunting in a more strategic manner, which will surely add a new level of tension to the development of the plot.
Neil Druckmann, the creator of the series, has shared his enthusiasm for the introduction of these new characters. As he explained in an interview with Empire, the behavior of the Stalkers will significantly change the dynamics and challenges that Ellie and Joel face during their adventure. The episode shows this first encounter with the Stalkers during a watch round, where Ellie, accompanied by Dina (Isabela Merced), discovers how dangerous and strategic these infected can be.
With the new season already underway, fans of the series are eager to see how these changes in the post-apocalyptic world will impact the lives of the protagonists. The Last of Us remains a benchmark in the adaptation of video games to television format, combining deep storytelling with chilling moments of horror.
