Nvidia has updated its new application, the Nvidia App which is currently in beta phase, introducing much-needed features such as G-Sync controls, RTX HDR multi-monitor support, and other user-requested adjustments.

Nvidia has been working on the new application since February 2024, with the aim of incorporating features from its standalone applications Nvidia Control Panel and GeForce Experience into a single, streamlined, and seamless app for all Nvidia driver updates and game settings.

Nvidia claims that the application will exit its beta testing phase by the end of the year with a definitive plan to eliminate the old ones.

Many improvements for gamers in a single app

Previous updates to the application have allowed users to modify the refresh rate and resolution and monitor orientation, essential features that have been part of the Nvidia Control Panel application for years.

If Nvidia really wants its new app to replace the existing ones, then it must ensure that it offers all the features its users rely on. The new update adds G-SYNC controls and, more interestingly, support for RTX HDR multi-monitor.

RTX HDR is a filter that uses AI to bring high dynamic range to games that were not designed for it, which can have a significant impact on visual quality. Its use in a game is seamless; it can be activated by simply typing ALT+Z, and its potential is enormous: of Nvidia’s 50 most played GeForce games, only 12 offer HDR compatibility. Games running on Vulkan, DirectX 9, 11, and 12 will benefit from the enhanced experience on multiple HDR-compatible monitors simultaneously.

The application also includes updates introduced based on user feedback. You can now view system statistics and latency information in-game and on the desktop, as well as the game’s FPS from the “Heads Up Display” settings tab. You can also adjust how and which statistics are displayed, and sort and filter your games and applications, hide programs, and remove manually added programs.

The app update was released on October 1, 2024. Users will need to install the new beta update of the app and the GeForce Game Ready 565.90 WHQL driver to take advantage of these new features.
