Say Goodbye to Video Call FOMO: How to FaceTime with Non-Apple Devices

From company meetings to conversations with our friends or family, video calls are becoming more and more common. Even for shopping at an Apple Store. In this sense, FaceTime is presented as a simple and secure option to carry them out. And if we add to that the fact that we can make video calls regardless of the operating system used by the receiver, even better.

A link that communicates with any person, device and operating system

If at first FaceTime was only for calling between users of Apple devices, the service has long since expanded its capabilities and allows video calls to Windows and Android users. To do so, it is only necessary to program a link from our iPhone, iPad or Mac and connect at the agreed time. The exact steps to follow are as follows:

  1. Open the FaceTime app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
  2. Tap the Create link button.
  3. Choose who to share it with or tap Copy link to send it to whomever you want through any app or service.

The recipient of the link will only have to click on it at the agreed time for it to open in the browser. With this, we will be able to make a call or video call with people using Android, Windows and, in fact, any operating system. This also means that any device capable of browsing the Internet is also able to participate in the call.

We should also bear in mind that despite making the call from the browser, it will be fully end-to-end encrypted in the same way as if we were calling normally. At the end of the communication, we can delete the link, so that it is deactivated, or keep it active so that, on the same link, we can connect again at another time.

A really simple system that allows us to make a video call with anyone in a comfortable and totally secure way. All we need is a link and agree on a time when we will all connect to it. A way to use the FaceTime calling platform, which we already know, with Android or Windows users.
