Furthermore, the accompanying logo maintains the classic style of the original 1984 film, but with the addition of “Legends” in a typography similar to that of the series Cobra Kai. This has sparked speculations about possible connections with the successful Netflix series, although the creators have stated that there will be no direct link.
What will Karate Kid: Legends be about?
As we know so far, the story will follow a promising young man, played by Ben Wang, who after repeatedly moving to different places in the United States, finds a new mentor in a tough but fair sensei. This premise is reminiscent of the original Karate Kid plot, although with some changes that may suit the film very well.
Directed by Jonathan Entwistle and written by Rob Lieber, Karate Kid: Legends aims to be a new chapter in the saga, continuing the legacy that began in 1984. While Cobra Kai comes to an end this year, this movie ensures that the Karate Kid universe remains alive through nostalgia.
The cast includes actors such as Joshua Jackson, Ming-Na Wen, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff, Sadie Stanley, and Jennifer-Lynn Christie, in roles yet to be disclosed. But we will soon know more. On October 18, 2024, Karate Kid: Legends will have a special panel at New York Comic-Con, where more details about the movie are expected to be revealed, including more information about the plot and possibly some exclusive footage.
