When in the middle of The Mandalorian season we saw Ahsoka appear, many of us got up from the couch and started applauding. The mythical character from the Star Wars universe was back in live action with a leading lady to match: Rosario Dawson.
Soon after, it was revealed that the character would have his own solo series, a spin-off that we all wanted to see on television. Since then, more details about the series have been coming out, including the live-action debut of characters from The Clone Wars and Rebels.
Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ in August, so we only have to wait four months to get a first-hand look at Rosario Dawson’s adventures as a jedi.
What do we know or what do we assume so far about the series? We imagine that the events of The Mandalorian from season three will flow directly into the first season spin-off series.
Ahsoka talks about something “dark” coming, leading to the epic showdown between this mysterious new female Sith. Although we’re not sure if she’s a Sith, but her red lightsaber could mean she’s following the path of the Dark Side.
The trailer contains many exciting moments, such as the appearance of Sabine Wren, Chopper and Hera Syndulla. We also know that Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker (more like Darth Vader).
The icing on the cake is the quick sequence where we see the back of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s head. There were rumors that the Ahsoka series was going to follow the Jedi in their search for Ezra Bridger, who left with Thrawn at the end of Star Wars Rebels.
Thrawn is one of the few Legends characters that fans have begged to be canonized and shown in live action. It looks like both requests have been fulfilled in this epic trailer.
We imagine the full trailer for the series will be out in the coming months, but this first look is already enough to drive any Star Wars lover crazy.
The news from Star Wars Celebration also came with the news that Dave Filoni is going to make a new movie that will close out the current story arc. This includes The Mandalorian, Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett.
Remember, Ahsoka will officially premiere on Disney+ in August 2023.
